In my work at the University of Osnabrück, I am interested in the role of inner perception (e.g. values, mindset) in the sustainability transformation. After more than 10 years of research in ​​climate risks and food system transformation, I am convinced that societal transformation can only be achieved with a simultaneous change in mindsets and values.

I use transdisciplinary, participatory methods to explore inner perception and inner skills (e.g. empathy, sense of agency) in group processes.

Before joining the University of Osnabrück, I was a senior guest scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and Director of the “Food System Economics Commission” (FSEC), where we conducted research on the global food system transformation. Before that, I worked as a research scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria, where I worked on systemic risks using quantitative and qualitative methods. That's where I also first learnt about transdisciplinary methods like the Warm Data Lab, which continue to shape my work to this day.

In my DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford I worked on the topic of climate and water risks in the global breadbaskets. I hold an MSc in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Economics from the Free University of Berlin.
